Taking Initiative with Fundraising

Last week, I received a letter in the mail from one of our RaceRaisers. Surprised, happy, and ultimately inspired, I knew that this letter should be shared with the RaceRaiser community. Why? The author, James Lincoln, took initiative by not only setting up a RaceRaiser page and emailing contacts online, but also hitting up the same people through the good ol' postal service. James' page for the TVT 'O' Ambassadors has only been online for only 2 weeks, and yet has already raised $1,535!!! (Check out www.raceraiser.com/pages/JamesLincoln).

I encourage all of you RaceRaisers to take initiative like James; get creative with your pages and fundraising efforts and you will see maximum results. Good luck to everyone out there participating in these amazing events and raising money for charities nationwide!

Below is a portion of the letter I received:

Myself and 23 selected high school students from Tarbut V' Torah Community Day School will be travelling to Ecuador this summer. We are representing the United States as "O Ambassadors." Our school was chosen through Oprah's Angel Network that seeks to inspire young people to become compassionate, knowledgeable and active global citizens. In having the students themselves physically build the school they will concretely learn how much impact they can have. It will also hopefully inspire them to be life long charitable contributors to a world effort of "Tikkun Olam, " repairing the world.

I believe that our mission on this trip is one that you would be willing to support. Empowering the world's children through education is something that I think everyone believes in. Our trip costs almost $80,000 and the kids have been fundraising since they were selected in December. I am writing to you to ask for a contribution to our cause. It is quick and easy to donate online: www.raceraiser.com/pages/jameslincoln. Yours will be a big help. Thank you.
